Lysebu is in Norway, what Schæffergården is in Denmark. Both places are owned and operated by Foundation for Danish-Norwegian cooperation.
Lysebu is Norway's gift to Denmark as a thanks for the great Danish food aid during the World War II.
Lysebu is like the palace of the Norwegian folk tales at the top of Holmenkollen at the entrance to Nordmarka, Oslo's great park. The place was designed in 1918 by famed architect Magnus Poulsson for private use. Lysebu has since been expanded and modernized several times. Developments have taken place in harmony with the original architecture and character of the Norwegian large farm has been preserved.
Lysebu is build to receive the Danish visitors. Numerous Danish authors, artists and scientists have lived in Lysebu. Lysebu is also a leading training and conference center with a great offer for Danish students and researchers. Lysebu the hotel for everyone who appreciates quality and environment.

Lysebu has a large swimming pool with gym and sauna, outside there are also plenty of options. Property size and location provides unique opportunities unfolding inside as well as outside for outdoor recreation, sports and other outdoor activities both summer and winter. We have trails, hiking trails and groomed ski slopes just outside the door. One can also stay home and curl up with a good book by the many fireplaces.
In 2011 opened a new wing at Lysebu, "height", built on the cliff above the old plant with a wide view over the valley and mountains. The height has 24 suites, 6 meeting rooms, exclusive kitchen and a large terrace. There is a permanent exhibition of Norwegian and Danish art deposited by Henie Onstad Art.
